GMO PROPONENTS – PUT UP OR SHUT UP

Vermont is poised to become the first state to require labels on genetically modified food. Yes!

Supporters of GMO say that there is no harm from GMO. Really! They precisely know the long term impact of their creation? Hmm…

In the 1990s, an engineered soybean made people with Brazil nut allergies have allergic reactions because they didn’t realize the bean’s genetic material included a gene from the Brazil nut.

I am sure the GMO companies are lying awake thinking “how will my meddling of genes have an impact on the environment or strengthening of weeds and insects that may evolve to beat the genetic engineering”.

I am sure they put the people health concern before their profits.

Petitions have shown up on Change.org asking for companies to get rid of GMOs. I say, support them.

If you are a strong GMO proponent, I have a simple request …

“If you are not worried about GMO and feel that your product is superior to nature made ones,

then show it. Feel proud and display the label on all your products stating MADE WITH GMO crop.”

We like transparency on what we are putting into our body.

By training, I am a American Board Certified Pediatrician. But in my younger years I grew up with natural alternatives. As a mom I have tried to incorporate both for my kids and it has worked wonders. And finally, as I am studying natural & alternative medicines, I realize the beauty and wisdom of living closer to earth. Hence in my practice I integrate both...for acute ailments I follow American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation but for simple and/or chronic conditions I prefer natural alternatives. In western training we were raised to think that "health is the absence of symptoms and problems". But eastern sensibilities has educated me that "Health is state that allows one to use the full capabilities of their body, mind and intellect. Therefore, healthy living is a balanced state of well being: physically, mentally, socially and spiritually." This implies that healing is not a "one-pill-fits-all", but a personalized experience.
